Pictorial step by step process of removing, refurbishing and reinstalling the quarter windows

removed original quarter window

I began by removing both quarter window assemblies


begin disassembly

Then began the disassembly


every bolt comes off

Remove every nut and bold


pictures are good to remember the order and where everything goes

These pictures were originally taken so I could remember how to reassemble... knowing where everything goes is sometimes hard to keep straight, especially if its a 15 year project!!! Take Pictures!

check your rollers... so long as they are smooth, they should be just fine... clean them up

Check your rollers. as long as they are nice and smooth, you won't need to replace them. Be sure to clean them up and you'll be just fine. The back seat rarely got any use so unless they've rotted over the last several decades, some white lithium grease after the cleaning should be good to go.

remove the two screws that hold on the stainless steel window trim

and then remove the screw on the inside of the frame

it should now pull apart.

clean glass with razor bladea and Laquer Thinner to remove any hard crusty scale

I cleaned my rubber quarter window gasket with some light acetone... too much and it will eat away the rubber

polish out the stainless steel frame

fit the stainless steel trim around quarter window and insert in frame lining up the two screw holes

install the two screws with locktite

then secure the bottom screw the same way

get the correct weather strip for that quarter

clean with mineral spirits or acedone to remove the manufacturing residue
